Alexander (Sandy) Esslemont
President & Chief Executive Officer
Sandy Esslemont is the president and chief executive officer of Parker Drilling. He was elected president and chief executive officer on March 31, 2020, and appointed as a member of the Board of Directors.
Mr. Esslemont has more than 37 years of international oil & gas industry experience in drilling operations, petroleum technology, and executive management. He has held leadership roles at privately held, publicly-traded, and venture-backed companies in roles based in the U.S., Africa, Asia, Europe, Australasia, and the Middle East, the majority of which are in the oilfield services and related industries.
Prior to joining Parker, Mr. Esslemont served as CEO for Abrado, a Houston-based company in which he was an original founder. Previously, he was CEO and Chairman of SensorTran Inc., which was sold to Halliburton under his leadership; President, Western Hemisphere of EXPRO International Group, an international oilfield services company; and served as CEO of ROXAR group, an international oilfield technology company.
Mr. Esslemont holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and on the Board of Directors for the American Petroleum Institute (API) and National Petroleum Council (NPC).
Michael W. Sumruld
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Mike Sumruld is senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for Parker Drilling, appointed October 1, 2017. He manages the company’s investor relations, corporate development, treasury, accounting and finance, tax, financial planning and analysis, supply chain and information technology organizations.
He most recently served as chief accounting officer for LyondellBasell Industries N.V., one of the largest plastics, chemicals, and refining companies in the world. In that role, he had global responsibility for corporate accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. From 1998 through 2016, Mr. Sumruld worked at Baker Hughes Incorporated, a leading supplier of oilfield services, products, technology and systems to the worldwide oil and natural gas industry, where he held a range of financial roles, covering the U.S., Latin America, and the Eastern Hemisphere as well as global financial roles covering several product lines. Mr. Sumruld’s most recent roles at Baker Hughes include vice president and treasurer from 2013-2016; vice president finance eastern hemisphere from 2012 – 2013; and director, investor relations 2011.
Mr. Sumruld is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Houston and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
Bryan R. Collins
Senior Vice President – Global Business Development
Bryan Collins is the senior vice president – global business development of Parker Drilling. He served as president, drilling operations from December 2016 to June 23, 2020, vice president – Arctic and Latin America operations from April 2016 to December 2016, and as Parker Drilling’s vice president of Arctic operations from March 2013 to April 2016. Previously, he served as Parker Drilling’s global director of business development from February 2012 to March 2013.
Before joining Parker Drilling, Mr. Collins served in various operational and senior management roles at Schlumberger, Ltd., including vice president for drilling & measurements operations in Russia and over 6 years as Schlumberger’s global account manager for ExxonMobil’s worldwide drilling operations based in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Collins brings over 25 years in the upstream oilfield services business, serving in executive, operational, marketing, account management and general management roles in Russia, North America and South America. Mr. Collins holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Southwest Texas State University.
Jennifer F. Simons
Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Jennifer Simons is the senior vice president, chief administrative officer, general counsel and corporate secretary of Parker Drilling. She was appointed general counsel and corporate secretary on April 1, 2018, after serving as the general manager of the company’s Atlantic Canada division based in, St. John’s, Newfoundland. Prior to her operations management role, she served in various legal counsel roles since joining the company in 2010.
Ms. Simons has more than 15 years of international oil & gas experience.
She holds a juris doctorate from University of Houston Law Center, and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from University of Houston-Clear Lake. She serves on the Board of Directors for AIDS Foundation of Houston and as a member of the API Upstream Committee.
Senior Vice President, Global Operations
Brage Johannessen is the Senior Vice President of Global Operations for Parker Drilling. Mr. Johannessen has nearly 30 years’ experience in the upstream sector of the O&G business, spanning drilling and well operations, field development planning, project management and executive management. Prior to joining Parker, Mr. Johannessen served most recently as Vice President of Integrated Well Services with Baker Hughes. Previously he has held various engineering and drilling management roles with Statoil (today known as Equinor), an E&P Operator, executive management roles within Baker Hughes, and Executive VP International for Ensign Energy Services, a global land drilling contractor. Throughout his career, he has lived and worked in Europe, Middle East, Far East and the U.S.
Mr. Johannessen holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from West Virginia University and has served as a Marine Diver in the Royal Norwegian Navy.
Nathaniel C. Dockray
Nathan Dockray was appointed Treasurer of Parker Drilling on April 13, 2020. Mr. Dockray has served as chief accounting officer of Parker Drilling from November 2017 through April 2020, as director of tax and financial planning & analysis of the Company from January 2014 through October 2017, as assistant tax director of the Company from December 2012 to December 2013, and as senior tax manager of the Company from April 2012 to November 2012. Prior to joining Parker Drilling, Mr. Dockray worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) from 2004 to 2012. While employed by PwC, Mr. Dockray focused on providing a broad range of tax consulting and compliance services to clients spanning multiple industries.
Mr. Dockray holds a master’s of science in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.
