Project Managment

An active part of Parker's operations is managing drilling rigs owned by third parties, generally oil companies that prefer to own the rig equipment but do not have the technical expertise or labor resources to operate the rig. Current projects include China, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Papua New Guinea and Sakhalin Island.

Sakhalin Island
Customer: Sakhalin 1 Consortium, Exxon Neftegas Limited is the operator
Contract terms: Five years with options for extensions.
Location/Block/Well Name: Chayvo
Number of employees on project: 120 employees
History in country: Parker began working in Russia in 1991, as the first Western drilling contractor to do so.
Significance of project: Parker designed and built one of the most sophisticated land rigs in the world for this project. It is earthquake-resistant, capable of operating at temperatures of 40 degrees below zero, and will drill horizontally into an offshore field up to five miles away while positioned on dry land.

China
Customer: Halliburton/PCI Project
Contract terms: Open ended. Contract commenced from March 1994 onwards. Contract has been running since 1994.
Location/Block/Well Name: South China Sea/Xijiang Development Field/XJ 24-3 and XJ 30-2 Platforms
Number of employees on project: Currently 14 rotators. The number of employees fluctuates up to 26.
History in country: Parker started working in China onshore from March 1980 when it was awarded a project management contract by China's National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corp (CNOGEDC, the forerunner of CNODC/CNOOC) in 1979.
Significance of project: Heralded as the first offshore drilling management project ever undertaken by Parker in China when Parker's early corporate and primary focus was working only as a land driller.

Kuwait
Customer: Kuwait Oil Company
Contract terms: Initial contract was for three years.
Location/Block/Well Name: Oilfields of Kuwait
Number of employees on project: 20
History in country: Parker worked in Kuwait in the late 1970s.
Significance of project: Heralded as the first offshore drilling management project ever undertaken by Parker in Kuwait when Parker's early corporate and primary focus was working only as a land driller.

Kazakhstan
Customer: Tengizchevroil (TCO)
Contract terms: Started in May 1993, and renewed the contract for five years in 1997 and again in 2002.
Location/Block/Well Name: Tengiz, Kazakhstan
Number of employees on project:
History in country: Parker has operated in Kazakhstan since 1993 as the first Western drilling contractor in the country.
Significance of project: Parker is doing long-term work on a world-class project for a major customer. The contract is an excellent revenue producer and the cornerstone of Parker's operations in Kazakhstan.

Papua New Guinea
Customer: Oil Search
Contract terms: One year with one-year option
Location/Block/Well Name: PNG
Number of employees on project: Up to 40 personnel
History in country: Parker Drilling has conducted operations in PNG for 25 years.
Significance of project: Operator and Contractor have established relationship over time such that both companies can address objectives and find alternative methods that are cost effective for their individual goals.
